  I purchased this device some time ago and used it extensively with MS Flight Sim and my laptop running Win98. Once upgraded to Win2k the fun was over. Gravis does not provide drivers for either Win2k or XP for this device. If you are running the older OS, go for it - its a great device. If you are running XP, it will land in the “computer parts” box in your garage.

  It is was great controller, in 1999. Sadly Gravis offers no updated drivers for this product. It is worthless if you are running Windows XP

  This gamepad does Not work on all Notebooks. Nowhere in their marketing material do they mention this. I have two different Sony Vaio notebooks and neither would except it. Contacted Gravis Customer Support and they verified it was not compatable with Sony…

  The Stinger has a great feel, was very easy to install (for a technical person like me). The ten buttons work well, and it has powerful software included. With the Exterminator software, it can emulate almost any kind of joystick or even a mouse, and all the buttons are programmable to any combination of keys. The ultimate controller for games, as Gravis pulls through with a great companion to every game!

  Worked after I installed the BlueSoleil software not before. Vista never could find the correct drivers to operate, maybe this is only my case but this must be taken into consideration when buying.

  Its working as I wanted. I wanted to make my laptop Bluetooth enabled to use with Jawbone. Its paired well and working fine. Great for its price and great for its size. Does not have very good range. Does not have a physical switch to turn off. Always blinking blue light does not indicate anything.

  I’m sure this works just fine with some laptops, depending on what comes pre-loaded. That said, my computer needs the driver for this dongle. I telephoned the company, they answered the phone right away. They told me this product is supposed to be plug-n-play, promised help and sent me a the driver via email - for the incorrect dongle. I replied immediately and did not hear back - it’s been a few days since this communication. Poor customer service after what promised to be excellent service.

  PS I was a little nervous when I purchased this dongle for 2.95 - I see now that it is one penny, but with the shipping it works out to the same amount I paid for mine. In this case, when you factor in the wasted time and effort, it was NO bargain.

  That said, for those whom this product is truly plug and play, I’m sure it is a dream. Other reviewers might be able to comment on this - it appears from what I can see that it is plug-in-play for XP. I would be interested to hear if others with the same configuration needed the driver or not

  I’m not sure if it comes with a dedicated driver.
  Anyway I didn’t get it, so just used a XP’s driver.
  Seemed to be working well, but after several uses I noticed that it’s not paring with my keyboard, so I needed to unplug and plug it again and again.
  In addition to that, it doesn’t support a bluetooth headset for Skype.

  Finally I bough another $19 dongle and I now know why it’s much expensive.
  It supports Skype and never lost keyboard.

  I bought this to replace my large Kensington adapter since this is much smaller and I could leave it in the laptop. It works OK for a mouse or keyboard, but not stereo headset. If you simply want to connect a bluetooth mouse (I recommend the Microsoft Notebook Mouse 5000) there are few choices this small and inexpensive. If you want to run more than a mouse, look elsewhere as this adapter cannot handle multiple connections and everything studders and skips.

  I run Windowws XP, which has basic capability to support a mouse, but not advanced profiles like headset with microphone or stereo headset. So you can just plug it in and let windows recognize it, you do not need to use the driver CD. The Driver CD includes a very old version of BlueSoleil software (V 1). This will add additional bluetooth profiles to Windows XP. I tried this software to enable my Plantronics 855 stereo headset. I was able to pair but playback was studdering, and unusable if I moved the mouse at the same time. My old Kensington 333348 adapter worked flawlessly with both devices.

  If you prefer Widcomm software over BlueSoleil you are out of luck, as Widcomm only supports their own Broadcom chipsets. This adapter uses Cambridge Silicon Radio hardware, so you are stuck with BlueSoleil for advanced profiles in Windows XP. BlueSoleil wants you to upgrade the free software on the CD (V 1) to the latest (V 6) for $20. Version 6 is very good, to bad this is not distributed with the adapter.

  The package states 300 foor range, which is a class 1 transmitter. Your device must also be a class 1 to reach this limit. All my devices are Class 2 (30 feet), so I was not able to test the claim. My devices worked to 30 feet successfully.

  Bottom line, this tiny, inexpensive adapter will work fine for a mouse with or without the driver CD in Windows XP. While adequate for simple needs it cannot stream stereo audio without skipping.

  I ordered this product for my HP Compaq iPAQ, and it works great. My PDA is now wireless. Great necessity when you need to go online at home, or within wireless range outdoors. Absolutely love it!!

  The product arrived quickly and was easy to install and configure. I have a TREO phone which requires an SD card for network interface. The CAB installed quickly and easily and worked the first try. I can now connect my TREO to hot spots as well as my home network with no difficulty.

  Software is flaky. You pop the card in, and sometimes the software comes up and sometimes it doesn’t. And, if you remove it, forget about putting it back in and getting it to work without restarting your phone by removing the battery…
