  Go to your favorite search engine and plug in this model and a choice keyword or two (Trouble” or “Problem” ought to do for starters). I didn’t want to believe that a Toshiba Notebook could be so bad, but it seems that the joyous reverie of other reviewers (I wish them well) is not universally echoed by owners everywhere. People are having awful problems with it shutting off spontaneously and then perversely not being able to shut it once it is running. The Hitachi SATA hard drive dies on some owners. USB isn’t working right for others. Toshiba is uncooperative, the drivers for XP are darned hard to find, Vista crashes, on and on and on. I can’t vouch for all of these problems, maybe they’re operator error or sunspots or alien abductions. All I know is that mine is going back in the packaging and off to a service depot for a long rest, hopefully for the cure of two show-stopping problems (aforementioned dead disk after 4 months, and chronic shut down problems going back to since new).

  Bon Voyage. l’il notebook. we hardly knew ye.

  I got this notebook several months ago and I’ve had a great experience with it. I’ve had zero problems with it, and I’m very pleased with Vista as well. The one thing I would change about it is that mine takes it’s sweet time booting up when I turn it on. Once it’s all ready to go, however, it runs very fast. I’m sure that’s something I could help by changing some settings, but it’s the only negative thing I have to say about this computer. I have The Sims 2 Deluxe on here, and am very pleased with how fast the game runs on this notebook. I’ve had absolutely no problems with the computer handling any software I’ve added.
  We got it for a great price! And if you just need a basic, good computer, this is a good one to go with. It would be especially good for a student.

  I got this computer to replace my PC and I’m glad I chose this particular one.

  This notebook comes with Windows Vista Home Premium. I wasn’t too sure about having Vista, but after using it I do like it. I use this notebook at home and the PC I use at work has XP. I like Vista better than XP. The biggest problem I had with Vista is that I could no longer use my very old inkjet printer. I checked the printer manufacturer’s website for a Vista driver and it was not providing a driver for that printer. I can print from Vista with my somewhat newer laser printer. I would suggest that before buying any computer with Vista, it would be wise to be sure your printer will run with Vista.

  The speed of this notebook is excellent. My husband decided to double the RAM and it is now beyond excellent.

  This computer is great. I need to explore more of it to find out everything it can do, but it has more than met my needs so far. I would highly recommend this computer.

  In response to another review, I have not had ANY of the problems mentioned. In fact, when we replaced computers at work a few months ago, I insisted on a Toshiba notebook for me (however it wasn’t this particular model). I do not hesitate to recommend Toshiba.

  This Notebook is super fast with its Pentium Dual-Core Processor running at 1.73ghz. It also has a superfast integrated graphics card with 8-256mb dynamic memory and enough speed to run most games.

  The internal wireless card quickly connects to the network and is very fast.

  I’m really glad I bought this notebook computer.

  320 GB, 3 Gb/s, 16 MB Cache, 7200 RPM

  So far no weak or dead pixels

  First impressions;
  1. Build quality is very good, fit and finish.
  2. Will need pratice getting use to typing on the keyboard, need the numbers pad, so I’ll have to deal with it…haha…better then lugging 16″ or 17″ screen notebook to get the numbers pad. Feels great to rest palms on metal then plastic.
  3. Pretty quiet fan and HD noise so far…only net surfing right now.
  4. I’ll let it burn in for a few days before installing to many programs on it, learned from experience most new computer components will either break in a few days or last for years. Lazy me, not wasting my time if it breaks. ;P
  5. Not to much spamware installed on this notebook. NIS 2008 & MS Office trial versions.
  6. Screen picture quality after Nvidia adjustments is good, not the best or worst, average from my experience.
  7. Hard Disk Partition is horrid…C: 50 GB D: 250 GB…Some programs dont allow the option to install on D drive, oh well, guess I can move them later over to D:
  8. Overall right NOW the GX620-001US has meet my expectation for Initial Quality & Excellent SPEC value lappy.

  After my Toshiba became outdated trying play more modern games I started my search. I then found this nice little jewel. Let me give you a couple of my opinions of this system. First the bad..The heat exhaust is on the right side of the system and blows warm air on yours hands if your right handed and using a mouse, The partition of the drive, and Windows Vista which I have totally dumbed down to get it more like XP. Now the good…
  Windows Vista I am finally getting used to it, The performance vs price is great, The battery life I am impressed with my old unit would only run maybe 30 min. this one about 2 hrs. I am still finding more things positive about this system than negative as I keep using it. I would highly recommend this system.

  I have had this laptop for about a week now and I have to say that it is an excellent laptop for the price. There are some quirks about it that took some getting use too. Like, the keyboard layout is a little cramped to get the number pad and the Ctrl and Fn keys are reversed. The hard drive partition is horrid, but with a free program I repartitioned it to my liking.
  I have played many games on here, mostly CoD and this thing handles them with ease. Not even a hiccup. The turbo button, in the BIOS, is preset to 15% over clock but can be changed to 20%. I really don’t use it too much as all the things I want to do is handled well at stock. My friend has the same model and plays Diablo and Spore with no problems.
  Another plus is that it did not come with a lot of blot/crap ware on it. I think there was 2-3 optional programs. I quickly uninstalled all the unwanted software and loaded up everything that I wanted.
  Downside is that it has Vista 32 Bit, not 64, and does not use all 4Gb of ram. I am not thrilled with Vista, but with a few tweaks I found online, it is moving along nicely and faster at that.
  There are only 2 USB 2.0 ports and 1 eSATA/USB 2.0 port, would like 4, but I can’t have everything. It does have 7.1 sound, headphones and mic in. The sound from the speakers are pretty good considering the size, better than my last laptop.
  When in heavy use, this can spit some heat out (vent is on right side where I have my mouse). It keeps me nice and warm on those long gaming sessions, too warm sometimes. Despite the heat, it handles everything I do well; watching dvds, music, HD video, gaming without even a hiccup.
  Bottom Line, if you want a great laptop at a great price that can be gamed on,then try this one. I have not regretted it and I don’t think you will either.

  I have no complaints with this computer other than the horrible partitioning of the drives. I just download everything into the D: instead of C:. Other than that I have no grips. I have played The Witcher, Total War, and will be playing Rome soon.

  The built in webcam and turbo are also very nice features.

  This laptop is amazing, I love it so much it is worth ever penny I spent on it.
